mystory@irdsh.org We at IRDSH request that you send us your story. Please, share with us both the healing
and unfortunate experiences you have had within deathcare rituals, as either a direct care provider or when employing a funeral
home. We are collecting your oral histories to document and share how deathcare has affected your life and healing. We will
keep your story confidential and anonymous, if that is your desire. YOUR story empowers us with the knowledge of your experience
and aids in the reformation of current death practices. We welcome all stories. Please write us at mystory@irdsh.org. Many
thanks for enriching us with your stories. "Saying goodbye has never been easy for anyone, or maybe it
is just me. Ever since I was a kid, seeing how adults dealt with dying and death told me that it is not easy for us to say
goodbye and to grieve. Many years later, we would talk about these last few months of my father’s life and it never
fails to amaze me that we could remember so many details so well, even though we had decided not to take a single photograph.
Our power to remember was actually stronger than I had thought. I was hoping we would forget the agony of dealing with dying
and death and concentrate on the happier moments of Dad’s life. Well, to be honest, dealing with dying and death is
inevitable, but certainly the agony of the funeral could have been lessened."
